So I know this doesn’t exactly follow FORMbaby news, but I thought I would throw in a post showing our son’s 1st Birthday. We decided to go with a Tiki Surf Party theme. Using the colors: lime green, cream, and brown we created the scene by building a Tiki Bar, creating old time surfboards and of course plenty of tiki pillows.
We created surfboard favors for the kids out of wood and paint and of course what party is complete without the addition of cake pops! Here’s my attempt at a tiki cake pop- too funny.
A friend of the family’s made the cake and we loved how it match the theme of the party perfectly!
The man of the hour seemed to love his first birthday cake, and of course, the green frosting- guess I should have put more on it! It was a great time and a beautiful day- now on to next years theme, hmmmm….

Wow! I loved everything about your son’s first birthday. My son is turning 5 in December and we are having a Hawaii Five-O themed party and I was looking for creative favors and came across your wooden surf boards. Amazingly cute!! For the wooden surfboards I used 1 x4 wood, cut it down to about 10″ long and shaped it into surfboards by basically cutting the tops and bottoms and sanding- a lot. I painted stripes using regular latex paint and then lacquered the heck out of them with Polyurethane. Pretty easy, but a bit time consuming with all the dry time and sanding in between poly coats. Good luck with your party planning!
